Privacy & Terms of use

These terms are between you and Comex Trade LLC, which sells WiFiDrive: the firmware, installed from wifidrive.app onto a board you own, and the device, a board that arrives with the firmware installed. Buying either, or installing the firmware, is accepting them.

1. What you are buying

A license to run the WiFiDrive firmware on one device: the specific microcontroller identified when it was installed. The license is issued for that chip's hardware address and the firmware checks it every time it starts. Buying the device buys the board and its case, with the firmware licensed to its chip.

You are not buying the source code, and no rights to it are granted.

2. What you may do

3. What you may not do

4. Updates

An update is a signed file. The device's page asks wifidrive.app whether a newer release exists — the question comes from your browser, not from the device — and installs one by copying it onto the drive; a copy placed there from a computer over USB installs the same way. The device accepts only files signed by the key its current firmware carries.

The device opens no connection outside your network unless you switch on remote access, and while that is on it keeps one connection to relay.wifidrive.app.

There is no commitment to produce updates, or to produce them for any period.

5. Refunds

If the machine you bought WiFiDrive for will not read the drive, the purchase is refunded in full. Ask within THIRTY DAYS: of purchase for the firmware, of delivery for the device. The device is refunded once it comes back to us, and the return postage is yours. How to ask is on Refunds & shipping.

Because the firmware runs on hardware you own, a refund cannot remove it. A refunded board keeps working, and that is accepted.

6. No warranty

The firmware and the device are provided as is, without warranty of any kind beyond the refund above.

It formats storage. Choosing to format a volume erases everything on it, and that is the intended behaviour, not a fault. Keep copies of anything you care about elsewhere. No liability is accepted for lost data, for a machine that does not accept the drive, or for any loss arising from use of the firmware or the device.

7. Third-party software

The binary includes third-party components under their own permissive licenses. Their notices are reproduced in Third-party notices. Those terms govern those components; these terms do not.

8. Privacy

Comex Trade LLC keeps only what selling and supporting WiFiDrive needs:

It is shared only with the companies that do the work: the payment processor, the carrier and whoever ships the device, and the providers that host the site and deliver its email. It is never sold, and it is not used for advertising.

The site measures how it is browsed with Microsoft Clarity, which records the pages visited, clicks and scrolling, and sets cookies to tell one visit from another. A video loads from YouTube only when you press play, and from then YouTube receives the visit. Stripe's payment form sets its own cookies, against fraud, and remote access sets one, to keep you signed in.

When an app sends a file to your WiFiDrive, wifidrive.app/send/ keeps the addresses of your WiFiDrives in your browser and sends them nowhere, and the file goes from the app's tab, through that page in your browser, to your WiFiDrive, and never reaches wifidrive.app's servers.

Order details are kept as long as tax records require. A board's hardware address is kept as long as its license exists, because it is what makes a reinstall free. A remote access account is kept until it is deleted, and its log of changes after that.

To get a copy of what we hold about you, or to have it deleted, write through the contact form. Deleting a board's address ends its free reinstall.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States.
